Meet Our New Church Musician:
Andrew Wynsen

I am so happy to be joining the community at Barrington UMC and would like to share a little bit about myself.  I have been playing piano since age 7 and developed a passion for both classical and jazz music during high school where I played violin in the orchestra and piano in various jazz groups. My favorite musicians and composers include Claude Debussy, J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, the Beatles, and Paul Simon. During my junior and senior years of high school I had the honor of being selected for the All-State Senior Jazz Band which included the opportunity to perform at the Newport Jazz Festival.  After high school I attended the University of Connecticut and in 2016 I graduated with dual degrees in Physiology and Jazz Studies. Currently I am in my second year of the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at URI while still finding ways to perform and teach on the side. I am always happy for new musical collaborations and would like to encourage any instrumentalists or singers to reach out to join me during any part of the service. I’ve been told that there is a lot of talent hiding in the pews!
